Cheney has been the Republican Party’s fiercest critic of Trump since the invasion of the Capitol building on January 6 last year - and one of the few Republican's who called for impeachment.
The importance of Wyoming, the US' main agricultural state and land of rodeos and cowboys, holds a special significance for many Republicans.
