The story of Keluang Man (2025) begins in the quiet town of Tampoi, where Borhan, a middle-aged man struggling with mental illness, lives in a psychiatric hospital. His behavior seems erratic, but behind his confused mind lies a deep sense of justice and a mysterious past.

Through flashbacks, we learn that Borhan’s childhood was tragic. He was sold by his own parents into child trafficking, until he was rescued by Ahmad, a former martial arts master who raised him as a son and trained him in silat, a traditional fighting art. For years, Borhan found purpose in Ahmad’s discipline — until betrayal shattered everything. Ahmad’s best friend Shamsir turned to crime, manipulating Ahmad and tearing their brotherhood apart. During a violent confrontation, Borhan was injured — the blow that caused his mental instability — and Ahmad vanished into hiding.

Years later, Borhan’s peaceful hospital life is disrupted when he accidentally overhears a dark plot. Shamsir, now a dangerous criminal leader, is secretly working with a corrupt doctor, Dr. Ramu, to release certain mental patients and use them as human bombs in coordinated attacks against the police and government buildings. No one believes Borhan’s warnings — his illness makes him unreliable in the eyes of others.

Haunted by visions of his past and driven by his moral instincts, Borhan creates a makeshift mask and costume inspired by the fruit bat (keluang in Malay) — a symbol of silent justice.

The story’s tension rises when Ahmad — Borhan’s former mentor — reappears as the leader of the Mata Batu gang, working with Shamsir. This shatters Borhan emotionally; the man who once saved him now stands with the very evil he swore to destroy. A brutal showdown follows in an abandoned hospital wing, where Borhan faces Shamsir’s soldiers and tries to save innocent patients caught in the crossfire.

During these confrontations, Borhan’s fractured memory begins to heal. He remembers that Shamsir killed his adoptive father years ago and framed Ahmad — turning them against each other. Consumed by guilt and revenge, Ahmad joined the gang to find Shamsir, losing his soul in the process.

The city finally recognizes Keluang Man’s heroism, though his true identity remains secret. In a quiet ending, Borhan returns to the hospital — still a patient, still misunderstood — but now a protector in the shadows. Dr. Malini visits him often, hinting at mutual affection and trust.

In a mid-credits scene, a mysterious young boy sketches Keluang Man’s symbol on his notebook, suggesting he might become Borhan’s future sidekick — a new generation ready to rise.
