On the 17th of january 2026 a fisherman on the beach noticed an odd white shape just off the coast at Callantsoog. Upon further inspection by the coast guard it turned out to be a Beluga whale in seemingly good condition. Upon the moment of filming this clip on the 23rd of january the Beluga has swimming up and down the shore. The last real sighting of this species dates back to 1966 and is considered very rare for the Netherlands.
