Genesis is a newly released physics platform designed for general‑purpose robotics, embodied AI and physical AI. The project’s mission is to create a universal physics engine that is open, pythonic and easy to use, with extremely high performance and strong rendering capabilities. It aims to democratize robotics research by lowering the barrier to simulation and unifying diverse physics solvers into a single framework.

Genesis’s vision stresses openness, transparency and community contributions: the developers want to build a transparent, user‑friendly ecosystem that unifies robotics and computer‑graphics contributions and makes realistic virtual worlds accessible to everyone.

The engine has multiple roles:
A universal physics engine capable of simulating rigid bodies, fluids, deformable bodies, cloth and other materials. The engine is built from the ground up and integrates state‑of‑the‑art physics solvers into a unified framework.
A lightweight, ultra‑fast and pythonic simulation platform with an intuitive APIgenesis-world.readthedocs.io. It can simulate up to tens of thousands of environments in parallel on a GPU.
A photo‑realistic rendering system featuring both rasterization and ray‑tracing. When optional modules are installed, Genesis supports LuisaCompute‑based ray tracing and can reconstruct meshes from particle data.
A generative data engine that can convert natural‑language prompts into simulated scenes and generate multi‑modal data; the generative framework is modular and will be released progressively.
Genesis emphasizes speed: performance benchmarks demonstrate that a Franka robotic arm can be simulated at over 43 million frames per second on a single RTX 4090 GPU, which is roughly 430,000× faster than real time. The platform runs on Linux, macOS and Windows and supports CPU and GPU back‑ends as well as Vulkan and Apple Metal.
