Manipur Tense After Night of Arson | Kuki-Naga Clashes Escalate in Ukhrul

Описание: Manipur’s Ukhrul district witnessed a night of tension and violence after clashes and arson between Kuki-Zo and Tangkhul Naga communities. The trouble started on February 7 when a Tangkhul Naga man was allegedly assaulted in Litan village, escalating into stone-pelting and arson incidents.

Several houses were torched, and armed militants were reportedly seen in camouflage. Security forces intervened, firing tear gas and deploying additional personnel, including Assam Rifles, to maintain law and order. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 have been imposed to restrict movement and prevent further escalation.

Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho is scheduled to visit the area to restore calm, while both community student organisations have appealed for peace. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
