Daniel Gottfried (organ) and Stefan Gottfried (soprano saxophone) interpret their own arrangement of Claude Debussy’s „Première Arabesque“.
This piece is part of their artistic project „With Debussy and Ravel to the Movies“ in which they transcend musical genres:
With the interpretation of works by the French Impressionists Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel in our arrangements we create a symbiosis of the two seemingly rather distant instruments organ and saxophone. This evocative, imaginative music creates mental images both when being interpreted and when being listened to. What would be a better fit to that than music that actually originates and supports images? We thus fuse the colourful aspects of Impressionism with some of the landmark masterpieces of film music encompassing timeless melodies and textures composed by Ennio Morricone, Nino Rota, Bernhard Herrmann and John Williams.
We sound out the many facets of the unique combination of organ and saxophone and take the listener on an interesting and touching musical journey - cinematic experience included!
