The story Duryodhana vadham encapsulates the epic Mahabharata in kathakali form. In this scene, Duryodhana after feeling insulted at the Mayasabha in Indraprastha meets his uncle Sakuni and shares his agony and anger over the insult he had to face at the hands of the Pandavas . He demands that Draupadis laugh should not go unchallanged and seeks sakunis advise for revenge. Sakuni consoles him and asks him to invite Yudhishthira for a game of dice on behalf of Dhritharashtra . Sakuni pacifies Duryodhana that he himself would play the game and yudhishthira is sure to lose. Duryodhana leaves consoled and confident of grabbing the kingdom from Yudhishthira.
