Windows 7 Desktop and field engineers may create a customized WinPE or boot image file using the Windows Automated Installation kit. The most common boot.wim update is the insertion of Network Interface Drivers. Often overlooked, the boot.wim file actually contains two images, WinPE and the Windows 7 setup/install image. Addition of drivers should consider update of both images.
