A GENIUS Heart Broken Boy Trying to Prove Himself to the World | Movie Recap

In this visually stunning adventure from the director of Amélie, 10-year-old T.S. Spivet (Kyle Catlett) is a child prodigy with a passion for cartography and scientific invention. Living on a remote Montana ranch with his eccentric family a cowboy father born a century too late and a scientist mother obsessed with beetles T.S. feels like the odd one out, especially after the tragic accidental death of his twin brother, Layton.

When the Smithsonian Institution calls to inform T.S. that he has won the prestigious Baird Prize for his invention of a perpetual motion machine, they have no idea the winner is just a child. Without telling his parents, T.S. embarks on a secret, cross-country journey aboard a freight train to Washington D.C. to claim his award. But as he travels across America, he must confront the dark family secret he left behind and learn that the hardest journey isn't the one across the map, but the one toward forgiveness.
