Mpls Votes On Dissolving Police, Installing Dept. Of Public Safety With Extra Public Health Support

Описание: On Tuesday, the citizens of Minneapolis will decide if the Minneapolis Police Department will be dissolved and replace it with a Department of Public Safety.

This is what voters will see on their ballot:
Shall the Minneapolis City Charter be amended to remove the Police Department and replace it with a Department of Public Safety that employs a comprehensive public health approach to the delivery of functions by the Department of Public Safety?

Activists want to incorporate public safety professionals, social workers, mental health clinicians, and de-escalation experts instead of police officers to respond to incidents in the city. Police officers would still be called in violent situations.
