Ingredients:
1 cup boneless meat (chicken, mutton, or beef)
1/2 cup wheat grains
1/4 cup split Bengal gram (chana dal)
1/4 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)
1/4 cup rice
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1 tablespoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
Lemon wedges (for serving)
Instructions:
Wash the wheat grains, chana dal, and split red lentils thoroughly. Soak them in water for about 2-3 hours.
In a large cooking pot or pressure cooker, add the soaked wheat grains, chana dal, split red lentils, and rice. Also, add the boneless meat and enough water to cover the ingredients completely.
Cook the mixture on medium heat until the meat becomes tender and easily falls apart. If using a pressure cooker, cook for about 3-4 whistles.
Once the meat and grains are cooked, use a hand blender or a food processor to blend the mixture into a smooth paste. Set it aside.
In a separate pan, heat cooking oil and add the chopped onions. Saute the onions until they become golden brown and crispy.
Add ginger-garlic paste to the pan and cook for a minute until the raw smell disappears.
Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt to the pan. Mix well and cook for another minute.
Add the blended meat and grain mixture to the pan. Stir everything together to combine the spices and the mixture.
Reduce the heat to low and let the Haleem Chawal simmer for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Once the Haleem Chawal reaches the desired consistency, turn off the heat.
Serve the Haleem Chawal hot in bowls. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and squeeze some lemon juice over each serving.
Haleem Chawal can be enjoyed with naan, roti, or plain rice.
Note: You can adjust the spice levels and consistency of the Haleem Chawal according to your preference. Feel free to add more water if you prefer a thinner consistency.
