Repair Days at the National Ornamental Metal Museum - Cast Iron Gypsy on the Iron Trail

Описание: Every fall the National Ornamental Metal Museum hosts a fund raiser that is like no other in the world. It is called Repair Days. From all across the country and abroad close to 200 blacksmiths, welders, foundry workers, metalsmiths, jewelers, machinists and all other sorts of metal artists and enthusiasts will travel to the museum in Memphis, Tennessee for this event. These metalsmiths volunteer their time, skills and experience to repair broken metal objects that are brought in by the regional community. Honestly - Repair Days is so more than just an annual fundraiser. It is an inspiring and rejuvenating event where I feel the Metal Museum almost gives back to the community of metal artists and the general public more value than the funds that they raise. And those funds that are raised go directly back to us and are also focused on effective education programs that broaden the world's awareness and respect of our skills and work. It helps add to our growing our community of metal artists by offering classes that give people from the general public a chance to try everything from blacksmithing, jewelry making, enameling and metal casting. It also grows our current metal community member’s knowledge base by providing a supportive space where experts can share and disperse their knowledge to other inquiring minds. Whether you are a metal artist, patron of the arts or just interested in seeing what all this is about I highly recommend you make the time to come to this event.
