Recorded this monster album all in one take.
I recently hit my 10-year guitar playing anniversary, and wanted to celebrate with something big. So I thought I'd cover an album that has had a huge influence on me - Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2 - Scenes From a Memory.

I had actually heard a lot of this album during my childhood, as it was the soundtrack to Dragonball Z's "The History of Trunks" movie special. I had no idea the music was made by a band, and not specifically for the show, and loved every second I'd heard of it. Fast forward 15 years, and while looking for some new music, I came across "Home" - where the sitar introduction was used in the show's opening scene, and was hit by a wave of nostalgia. Been a big DT fan ever since!

Apart from the nostalgia aspect, I enjoy this album a lot as I think it blends rock, metal and progressive music seamlessly. If anything, its more accessible to rock and metal heads as opposed to being purely progressive, but that suits me! There's a great variety of sounds, very creative uses of recurring motifs and some absolutely stellar guitar work.

The album has an interesting story as well, told from the perspectives of a few different characters. Its an experience to be heard in one sitting, start to finish, and I thought that's the only way to do it justice.
