Core Collaborative Group Video 1
In the summer of 2017, FNF Lebanon and Syria worked with a group of young Syrians and Lebanese in the Bekaa region in East Lebanon to produce a series of three short videos on culture and refugees in Lebanon. This is the first of three.
The videos represent the output of a multi-stage project that FNF conducted in partnership with the Lebanese Conflict Resolution Network (LCRN) whereby young Syrians and Lebanese living together in the Bekaa area participated in workshops on conflict resolution. The youth then took part in group facilitation and came up with the idea of producing a documentary portraying life in the Bekaa, illustrating the similarities and differences between Lebanese who have lived there for decades and Syrians who now share this community and culture.
The production of the videos was facilitated by a local non-governmental organization called Sada El Bekaa, and directed by a team of Lebanese video-producers, Director Marcel Saleh, Script Writer Maysam Elhindy, Director of Photography Salam Kabboul, Camera Operator Ralph Atalalh and Assistant Producer Charbel Gerges.
Culture, in the videos, is portrayed both through immortal memories in the hearts and minds of Syrians who have been displaced, and through physical possessions that are connected to the identity of Lebanese living in the same area. The second and third videos connect the stories of 2 men living in the Bekaa, where values related to family, heritage, and hope - exist in both their lives.
