New Haven Police Department attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop car take off

Описание: Here is a video from the New Haven Police Department of an incident that took place on 06/28/2025. We are sharing this video to show that even a routine traffic stop can be a dangerous situation for Police Officers. We also want to express how important it is, for everyone’s safety, to move over for emergency vehicles.
On 06/28/2025, an Officer with the New Haven Police Department attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on a vehicle that was on radar traveling 62 MPH in a 40 MPH zone near the intersection New Haven Avenue and Bremer Road. The Officer made a U-turn and tried to get caught up to the suspect vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was trying to get away from the Officer and can be seen driving eastbound in westbound lanes. As our Officer got behind the suspect vehicle on Maplecrest Road, the suspect started shooting at the Officer. Our Officer fired one round at the suspect. A female and child can be seen jumping out of the vehicle as shots are being fired at the Officer from the moving vehicle. A pursuit then took place that lasted approximately 45 minutes. The pursuit was ended due to an Indiana State Trooper performing a P.I.T (Precision Immobilization Technique). The suspect then surrendered without incident and was taken into custody. Nobody was injured during the entire incident. The suspect was sentenced to 30 years for attempted murder and 12 years on previous charges.
