Is Wet or Dry Better?

Wet clutches are covered in engine oil, which reduces friction. This allows the clutch plates to stay cooler and extends their life due to less wear and tear. It also makes them more forgiving with a wider friction zone.
They’re also quieter at idle than dry clutches. However due to the engine oil, they’re prone to fluid drag that saps a bit of the engine’s power.
If your motorcycle has a wet clutch, be sure to consistently change the engine oil because more debris gets into the oil filter.
Dry clutches are NOT covered in oil. Avoiding fluid drag is the biggest benefit of a dry clutch and results in more power to the rear wheel. The dry clutch can also feel grabbier than a wet clutch. These reasons are why you see dry clutches on racing bikes.
But without oil, the dry clutch can’t stay as cool, which causes them to be noisier and wear out more quickly. This is why wet clutches have become very common on street bikes.
To reduce heat, riders may use an open dry clutch cover, which makes it even noisier. Some people love the sound, but some people hate it.
Let me know what type of clutch you prefer!
