Perched at the hill side of Buxa Tiger Reserve at an altitude of 3500ft is a quaint Drukpa village called Lepchakha Village. Buxa Tiger Reserve is a tiger reserve within the Buxa National Park in the Buxa hill of the southern hilly area of Bhutan. Sited close to Indo-Bhutan border Lepchakha Village is a less trodden destination of Dooars region which has recently gained its prominence in the tourism sector. The proximity of Lepchakha Village with Bhutan border makes the areal distance between Lepchakha and Bhutan's hill not more than 2 to 3 km. Tourist are attracted towards Lepchakha village for its surreal beauty making it a favored offbeat destination of Dooars.

The journey towards the mystical hamlet Lepchakha is an unforgettable experience in itself which is full of pictorial sights. After covering a distance of 20km from Alipurduar tourist will reach to the Buxa Tiger Reserve and after reaching tiger reserve, they need to trek through the dense forest of mixed-wet trees towards Lepchakha. Lepchakha village is often considered as the "Queen of Dooars" due to its bewitching panoramic vista of the 12 rivers flowing through Dooars which looks like glistening snakes meandering through the plains along with the serene ambiance which have left many tourists spell bound by the Lepchakha's beauty. The trekking trail towards Lepchakha is filled with pictorial destination from historical spots like Buxa fort, an important landmark of Buxa tiger reserve, to a forest route full of numerous orange orchards. The tourist trekking towards Lepchakha village will be accompanied by sound of the alluring chirping of exquisite Himalayan birds with the churning of dried leaves sprawled across the trekking route and sighting of colorful butterflies. Being close to the Bhutan border there is a boarder outpost of the security agencies in Lepchakha village. The sparsely populated Lepchakha village is inhabited by the Drukpa people. The Drukpa people are the original inhabitant of the place. These people are Bhutanese in origin and have unique culture different from the Nepalese who dominate lower part of the hills. The architecture of the Drukpa house is also unique. The main attraction of the Lepchakha village is the hilltop which offers the panoramic view of the Buxa National Park along with the meandering river streams dotting the Dooars region along with the heart swelling hospitability of the Drukpa people.
