A grinding and rubbing noise from the front wheel made me stop riding my Triumph Bonneville T100 and investigate before it became dangerous.
In this video, I strip down and service the front brakes to find out whether the noise can be fixed — or if new pads or discs are needed.
Front brake noises are easy to ignore — until they turn into something worse.
On my air-cooled Triumph Bonneville T100, I started hearing a grinding and rubbing sound from the front wheel and brakes. Rather than keep riding and hope for the best, I decided to stop and properly inspect everything at home.
In this video, I:
– Strip down and service the front brake
– Clean the caliper, pads, and disc properly
– Inspect for uneven wear or damage
– Talk through what causes brake noise on classic bikes
– Decide whether this is fixable or needs new parts
This isn’t a rushed job or a quick spray-and-pray fix. It’s a real-world front brake inspection and service on a classic Triumph — the kind of maintenance most riders eventually face.
If you ride a Bonneville or similar classic bike, this should help you decide whether a brake noise is harmless — or a sign to stop riding and take a closer look.
