DCRail 60029 'BEN NEVIS' + HOME FLEET star at the South Devon Railway AUTUMN DIESEL GALA! | 09.11.24

Описание: As we fast approach the end of the year, and the majority of heritage railways are now closing and ending their season until their Christmas events commence, the South Devon Railway provided something to do on a dreary grey Saturday, with a gem of a one day only Autumn Diesel Gala!

Topping the bill, and bringing its unmistakeable gurgling rumble to Devon, was Class 60 60029 ‘Ben Nevis’ visiting from DC rail and arriving via the mainline connection on Friday evening, starring alongside the home diesel fleet. Plenty of Sulzer action came in the form of Class 33 33002 ’Sea King’, Class 25s D7535 and 25262, both wearing BR blue, supported by Class 04 shunters D2246 and D2271. The day also gave the South Devon an opportunity to try out their recently acquired WCRC Mk1’s    • 57010 takes WCRC Mk1s TO TOTNES! + 68017 '...   These will be used on their Polar Express trains in December. Cavalex Models were also in attendance showcasing their highly detailed 00 gauge Class 56 and Class 60 models at Buckfastleigh!

The day was full of action and not without a hiccup as D7535 failed on one of the morning services and caused some delays and cancellations to the original advertised working timetable, but the railway did well to rectify the deficit, carrying out complex shunting manoeuvres and trying to get everything back on track during a brilliant event!
