Описание: Ep. 255 CREATING SPARKLING WAVE MOSAICS: Pendant + 5"x7" Art Piece

This week in the mosaic studio, I kicked things off with a creative warm-up: a mosaic pendant inspired by ocean waves. I’ve been wanting to explore this theme for a while, and this small piece was the perfect way to start. Using rich blue smalti, filati, and hints of 24k gold, I captured the movement and shimmer of the sea in miniature.

Feeling inspired, I took the design further with a larger 5"x7" vertical-format mosaic wave. With more space to explore texture and detail, I incorporated faceted smalti, multiple shades of blue thinset, and three types of glass “foam”: white glass pebbles, iridescent clear pebbles, and iridescent glass shards. The result? A sparkling, layered composition that gleams in both natural and low light.

As a finishing touch, I added small bits of spray and foam around the the crest of the wave—just the detail it needed to feel complete. Watch to see how both pieces evolved from concept to final shine!
