This is the third part of a video series, where I take a look at the daily lives of Korean Joseon dynasty kings. I will begin this last part by discussing royal meals and court cuisine. What did kings eat? What decorum was followed? How many times did a king eat? All these questions will be explored in detail.

Next, I will take a look at sickness and ailments that Kings suffered. Although Joseon kings had absolute power and had access to all that they desired, they were generally unhealthy. They often had eye problems and boils and abscesses appeared on their bodies due to lack of physical activity and often reading in dimly lit rooms.

To further the point of them not doing any physical activity, we’ll take a look at how kings relieved themselves…

Kings had to be weary of the heavens and weather. If there were anomalies, it could mean that their rule wasn’t going well.

Finally, we’ll take a brief look at how their physical ailments were treated and then briefly discussing mental health.
