Baby Gorilla Hasani Swapping Mothers

Описание: Baby Gorilla Hasani is with his birth mother Kala. I love seeing those two together. Hopefully, as time goes on this will be more and more the case. I attached the Statement about the last video from Bristol zoo about Kera and Hasani to the end of the description.
Baby Hasani sits behind mum, and then he has a ride on mum's back.
Kala walks past Jock the silverback who is waiting for the staff to throw some food.
Kala sits by the hut and has her lunch and Hasani walks off looking for his surrogate mum Kera who is around the corner having her lunch as well. Hasani starts playing in the straw while his mums are eating. He's got such a cute little face, with his fluffy hair.
Surrogate Mother Kera is looking through the reed if there is any more food and Kala is by the hut. Little Hasani is still sitting in the straw, while Kera has moved to the other side of the stream. Hasani seems to be calling and moves towards Kera crossing the stream by himself and then quite a sweet unsuspected move from Kera. She puts her hand on his back and she seems to hold him in her arm. Kera moves and slings Hasani on her back and off their go. Kera and Hasani go behind the bushes out of view. A quick battery change for me and then looking back up again. Hasani swapped mum's and he's now back with Kala his birth mum. A sweet moment between the two was when Kala rolled on her back and her baby son climbed on top. Kala starts to pat him like she used to do when he was born. I do hope he remembers those times and knows Kala is his mother. Some of you might ask if they get on so well now, why can't Kala look after him all the time. The simple answer is just that she doesn't seem to want to look after him full time. She loves her playtime with him, especially now he's a bit bigger and can play with him more but when she has enough she lets Kera take over. Maybe with time, we see her more and more with her baby and less with Kera, only time will tell.
Kala gets up and carries Hasani on her belly until she swaps him over to her back.

"Thank you for your concern. It’s been a long journey for them both and Kera is doing a good job of looking after Hasani -- she carries him on her back, plays with him, sleeps with him at night and brings him to keepers three times per day for his milk feeds -- they have established a secure relationship.
However, gorillas have very complex social structures and relationships, and so conflict does occur in captivity just as it would in the wild. In this instance, we believe Kera wanted Hasani to climb off her whilst she ate her food, which he was initially reluctant to do.
In the video Kera is mouthing Hasani, which is completely normal mothering behaviour for any gorilla. The hugging response may seem heavy handed but she is not actually biting or injuring him. Even young gorillas are very robust and Hasani didn’t come to any harm.
Now that the pair are spending more time with the rest of the gorilla troop, Hasani’s biological mother, Kala, is showing interest in him and is co-caring for the youngster.
We keep a close eye on all our gorillas and of course we keep an especially close eye on how Hasani is developing. He is bright-eyed and strong, and we are pleased with the progress Kera has made integrating with the group since she joined Bristol Zoo in 2008.
