The Police had achieved worldwide success and cult status in the space of just five years from the rock reggae fusion of Roxanne in 1978 to the timeless Every Breath you Take and the Synchronicity album from 1983.
So when Sting announced his solo album in 1985, millions of fans felt that a great musical journey was being interrupted too soon.
But what if The Police hadn’t split in 1985? How would Sting’s songs from his first solo album sound as Police songs?
As a huge Police fan, I tried to answer this question imagining how The Police would play We Work The Black Seam, from Sting’s solo album Tne Dream Of The Blue Turtles.
