Before his retirement CJI of the Supreme Court confessed in a public event that he prayed to lord Rama to guide him to jot down the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid judgement. Constitutionally a judge is bound to follow the rules of law and the idea of justice. If a judgement is driven by the judge's personal faith, that puts the whole idea of justice in deep trouble.
