📘 UPSC General Studies (Polity): Constitutional Bodies Compared - Tenure and Removal
(Bharatiya Rajvyavastha)
Who can end the term of a constitutional office-holder early, and on what test? This video explains the tenure and removal of constitutional bodies from the basics. It sorts the offices into four grades of protection (a teaching device, not a constitutional term): removal only like a judge, removal by the President after a Supreme Court inquiry, office at the pleasure of the appointer, and offices where the Constitution is silent on removal. It covers the Comptroller and Auditor-General, the Election Commissioners, the State Election Commissioner, the Public Service Commissions, the Attorney-General, the Advocate-General, the Finance Commission and the National Commissions. As a standalone video, it explains the comparison carefully on its own, and it also covers where each term comes from and the bars on later government posts.
