Yesterday on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, Jaron Boots Ennis spoke his peace to the fans about why the Vergil Ortiz fight did not happen. Boots says, and I quote:

I did everything in my power to make this fight happen for the fans. I waited long enough, and I stayed quiet through it all. It looks like Vergil or his team really didn't want to fight 🤷🏾‍♂️.

I came to his fight in his hometown and told him he was next. That was November, it’s March, and still nothing. It’s time to move on. Two division champions up next. End quote.

Not to be outdone, Rick Mirigian, Vergil Ortiz's manager, clapped back at Boots and said this, and I quote:

You serious? You did everything you could, you waited while we tried cause your alternative is many 7 figures less? YOU TURNED THE FIGHT DOWN TWICE, and you watched Ortiz sue to try to fight you.

NOW AGAIN A THIRD TIME, and do everything he could? Really? He spent more than you made last in your fight to try and fight you (dead serious) a third time, even now, you're still going to act delusional 😂

You know Ortiz didn't turn the fight down, but we know who did, and so do you 👀 Go grab a strap or TWO, it will be that much sweeter after for Ortiz to take them!

I need one of your guardian 👼's cause she's working overtime protecting your 57 wins against @genossteaks employees after work!

Ortiz is the only fighter you can name that put up real money of his own to try and fight a guy at all costs that you can't name another in the last 50 years who Floyd would not even have done this to fight Manny back in the day 😂

Don't worry, we will be out 90-120 days and catch you for a Christmas showdown or something, or you can believe our ex-promoter, and it will be like Mikey Garcia and take "years.
