After SoNB, I had only ToTSTL left to complete all towers under unreal in the TEA area. I quit ToTSTL very shortly after picking it up since I was rapidly gaining interest in another tower. My friend was talking about how CoCBF was unverified and how it was actually pretty fun to play through. The fact that it was unverified and pretty fun to play through instantly peaked my interest in the tower, and as I played more, I believed I truly had a chance at verifying this. At the time, I had no idea of who was grinding the tower, and I planned to keep the grind a complete secret.
The first 3 days of the grind were characterized by extremely fast progress. I made it to 8 on the first day, and then 10 on the third day. Sadly, I would die on 10 due to a stupid mistake, but nonetheless I kept my head high. However, a new discovery on the 3rd day would shift my mindset greatly. FireCage, an absolute consistency demon, had gotten to 11 start. I won't lie, knowing that fire had destroyed CoIV and CoTEC with insane flukes in the past had scared me a little. I was afraid that I would get crushed easily by his consistency. This pushed me to play the citadel even more, and I would begin putting insane hours per day to have a fighting chance.
The next day I would pull off something insane. I got to 12 on my first 11 run which meant I had fluked the hardest floor. This was a good and a bad thing at the same time, since it meant I was very good at the floor, but the chance to mindblock 11 increased a lot. I managed to die on 12 that run, which was a waste of atleast a 13B run, but it was still really good progress for my time. 2 days later, I would get another 11 run, passing it again, and I ended up getting to 13. Floor 13 is a "netted" floor but has lots of instakills so it is possible to die. It is more likely you die on 13B than 13A as 13B has gameplay above instakills right at the end. What I feared most was dying at this exact part, and my fear came to life. I died mere jumps away from the dropper, which crushed me mentally since this was supposed to a floor you shouldn't die on, but I was still a bit happy about the really good progress I was making.
3 days after my 13B run, I got to 11 for the 3rd time and managed to pass it AGAIN, which meant I successfully passed 11 all 3 times I got there. I would get past 13B and the dropper, and I stood at the final floor for the first time. I got about halfway through the floor and I died to a truss flick that gave me no momentum. It was a devastating fail, but it also meant I held the new world record on the citadel. On day 12, 3 days after my first 14 run, I managed to get to dropper twice in the same session. One of these runs would die in the middle of the section, and the other one made it to 14. Sadly the run didn't get far, and I failed the 4th jump of the floor. Later that day, I got to 14 yet again where I failed about 12 jumps from the winpad, a fail that absolutely devastated me since I could have verified it right there.
This grind was a complete secret up until day 14. The secrecy factor placed an immense mental burden on me, and I felt like it was hindering my ability to play well. I ended up making the grind public, and on that same day, I got to 14 again. I failed the first outside of the floor, and with that I now had 14x4. The next 4 days I frequently got to 11, but now I was failing them much more often. I got to dropper 3 times in this period, but I never passed them. My motivation at this point was dwindling fast since now I viewed 14 as an impassable wall. On day 19, I started a run, and ended up verifying the tower.
I think this tower is the best and hardest out of the 3 consistency unreal citadels in TEA. It's not a bad tower, and was actually pretty enjoyable to play up until my first 14 fail. Quality is pretty good, and I would recommend it if you can handle more camera control consistency gameplay. This was honestly the most stressful experience ever, and I probably wont compete with other people for a verification for a long time.
If you're wondering what I'm doing next, 3rd unreal will be ToQU but I will beat more horris before that.
