Badaun HPCL Murder Case: On Thursday in Badaun, Sudhir Gupta—a DGM at Hindustan Petroleum—and Assistant Manager Harshit Mishra were shot dead. On Friday morning, the police carried out a "half-encounter" involving the accused, Ajay Singh. Gross negligence on the part of the Badaun police has come to light in connection with this entire murder case; consequently, SSP Dr. Brajesh Kumar Singh has been removed from his post. Having been sidelined, he has been reassigned to the Logistics wing at the Police Headquarters.
