Sometimes, there are guitarists who simply embody the spirit of this series, Forgotten Fretmasters….. Our subject today is certainly every bit the Fretmaster, and every bit as under appreciated and unsung….. This is a man who has “wowed” the greats, people like Jeff Beck, Gary Moore and Joe Bonamassa….. This is a man who turned down a gig in The Rolling Stones, angering Keith Richards…. At least, according to him….. The stories of his life, like those of Paul Bunyan, Johnny Appleseed or John Henry, are steeped in American tall tales and folklore and seem too good to be true, and some may very well BE…… But like so many other masters that we’ve covered, he battled addiction and controversy and it led to another shocking and untimely rock n roll death….. Today, we’ll try to separate fact from fiction as we finally cover one of our most requested subjects, ROY BUCHANAN, next on Forgotten Fretmasters.
