The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society in Fort Wayne, IN hosted the Varsity Excursion train from the Glen, in North Glenview, IL, to Janesville, WI. Nickel Plate 765, a 2-8-4 Berkshire, leads around 20 cars. The train left Western Ave Coach yard at 0600 hours, set to arrive at Glen View at 7. Conrail101 and I started our chase at Morton Grove and then followed it to Grayslake, Ingleside, then Spring Grove.
When waiting for the excursion to come back from Janesville, we headed over to the CN Waukesha Sub in the horn zone, so look out for that video soon.
When the train came back from Janesville, we went back to Fox Lake on the WSOR trackage. Then we went back to Grayslake for what I think is the best shot of the day. The train was delayed a while because it was put in the hole at Grayslake for a Metra, then M340 took the diamond on the CN. Enjoy!
