Had a solid walk and talk with Patrick today, breaking down one of the most complex energy consultations I’ve done to date — a custom dual-dwelling project in La Cresta, Murrieta that features solar, battery storage, and generator backup in a seamless, future-ready design.
This isn’t just a solar install — it’s a fully engineered energy ecosystem built around performance, flexibility, and long-term scalability. The site includes a split 400A service feeding a main residence and an ADU, with a ~400 ft solar array run from the ground mount to the main panel. That alone adds complexity, but the real challenge came in coordinating three major technologies across two homes:
🔧 System Overview:
• 40 x QCells Q.Tron 430W modules
• 2 x Fronius GEN24 hybrid inverters
• 2 x FranklinWH aGate units
• 3 x FranklinWH aPower 2 units (Main Home)
• 2 x FranklinWH aPower 2 units (ADU)
• 1 x 26kW Generac Generator (Emergency Backup)
The builder brought me in to consult on full system design and coordination, and it took every bit of my experience and network to get it dialed in. I reached out to FranklinWH to verify inverter compatibility and used a bit of my own “Ai Dale” logic to work out the ideal flow between the Fronius hybrid inverters and the FranklinWH storage. It’s a smart combo once you know how to work around a few quirks: Fronius treats all generation as solar, and FranklinWH doesn’t care where the power comes from — it just charges and discharges intelligently.
Sure, every system has limitations, but this one proves what’s possible when reliable hardware meets expert consultation. Plans are already submitted to engineering, and once those are back, I’ll release a full breakdown and walk viewers through the logic, layout, and strategy that made this project a success.
This is why I don’t just “sell solar.” I design complete energy ecosystems.
If Fronius and FranklinWH ever collaborate officially — I’ll be first in line to test and consult. Until then, we do it the Dale Rolph way: smart, powerful, and built to last.
