This is a very informative, groundbreaking lecture given by Timothy Leary for a community of his peers and critics. Of course, the main issue of the discussion was supposed to simply be the molecule LSD itself - but as we all know, Acid is, means and does much more than its molecular structure alone suggests. Thus, his defense comes from a wide-angle lens of Drug morality, Self-Empowerment, questioning Authority, and awakening to our consciousness. Our consciousness is much more complex than the average "unexperienced" psychiatric Doctor might have realized in the 60's.

People were expecting Tim to give a scientific rap perhaps specifically about the molecule, or perhaps about "all those bad things we've heard about LSD," like the idea that it 'seems to produce a state of hysteria and nonsense' (or at least, non-sensical from a linear perspective!). Tim was already waaaaay beyond the hype, having ingested the molecule probably some hundred times before the showcase of this particular discussion. In this lecture, he attempts to look at the issue from a much more psychedelic, theological, moral, religious, ethical, and transcendental standpoint. In doing so, he might have come off as a bit of a wierdo - exclaiming that God is our Nervous systems, our skin is the boundary of heaven, etc.

In this Lecture, Tim does an alright job of unsettling his transcendental agenda, an agenda which remains as one of the most multi-faceted, expansive, catalytic, and beyond-its-time political agendas that Earth has ever known (**My opinion, I suppose :p). One such position of his, among many which can be gleaned from his various writings, is that the expansion out of robotic, reward-punishment "Ant-hive" consciousness might help to illuminate and liberate the infinitely evolutionary potential which is forever latent in humankind.
