Описание: This video of community organizers made in 2015 by the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College is in two Parts. Five diverse community and labor organizers share their background and experiences. The panel was held at Hunter College and titled “Careers in Social Activism.” Part 1 (17 minutes) includes discussion of their pathways into social justice and activism careers and what their job titles and responsibilities have been. They organize in many arenas: labor unions, women against violence, affordable housing, welfare rights, and immigration. Part 2 (20 minutes) includes a discussion of opportunities in organizing, competencies and characteristics needed, and advice and lessons learned. The MSW Community Organizing, Planning & Development program at the Silberman School of Social Work is described as an educational pathway to a career in macro practice.
