This animation demonstrates the
endodontic procedure performed on a tooth damaged by decay.
Acid-producing plaque bacteria break down the enamel and dentin, leading to infection. The tooth is first isolated using a rubber dam, then the infected pulp is removed and the chamber thoroughly disinfected. The canals are shaped and cleaned with rotary instruments and sodium hypochlorite before being sealed with gutta-percha. The tooth is then conditioned with etching and bonding to prepare it for final restoration.
