Rawai is a picturesque area on the southern coast of the island, 17 km from Phuket Town. Rawai is known for its beaches, including Nai Harn, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, located in a quiet and peaceful bay. Next to the beach, there is a national park where you can take a walk on the trails and enjoy the views.
Rawai Beach is not suitable for swimming, but there is a beautiful promenade for walks, plenty of cozy cafes and restaurants, as well as boats to neighboring islands. Also Rawai area is known for its Rawai seafood market, where you can buy seafood and fresh fish at a low price.
There are several viewpoints in Rawai, including Promthep Cape and the Windmill viewpoint with breathtaking sunset views.
There are fewer hotel complexes and hotels in the area compared to, for example, Patong or Karon. Mostly residential houses and villas for long-term rent are located here. Tourists on package tours are less common here, and more often there are "snowbirds", expats, those who have been living on the island for a long time.
