Kamlabai seafood restaurant is located in Kasarwaddo in Khorlim, Mapusa, North Goa. From Mapusa’s KTC Bus Stand, continue straight past Gandhi Circle and the market. Turn left and continue straight till you see St Joseph chapel. Just after the chapel is the left turn towards Canca. Kamlabai is 300 meters down this road, next to the Madhavbagh clinic. There is ample parking outside.

Kamlabai is quite popular with Mhapsekars and has expanded over the years. Nice simple place it is. I like these places which are just about food and nothing else. No show sha, just food

Since we heard this place is famous for seafood, we wanted to try the seafood platter but it was not available. So we decided to have mutton thali and special fish thali instead, but mutton thali also was not available. In special fish thali, the choice of fish was kingfish, chonak and prawns.

Fortunately the food comes quite quickly after ordering as we were hungry after travelling north, then meeting people in Mapusa in the morning

Maria’s prawns thali had fish curry, cabbage bhaji, dry prawns kismur, teesrio, soya chunks bhaji, chonnem bhaji, sal kari with coconut milk, sheera, rice, chapati and three large rawa fried prawns. And mine is all the same with a big, beautiful piece of fried chonak. Total nine items on Kamlabai’s special fish thali

The fish curry also was of chonak. The fish curry was nice and piping hot. Fried prawns were large and juicy. The dry prawns kismur was also really tasty. We both enjoyed the teesrio a lot. Maria found the soya bean bhaji also very tasty

Sal kari was very nice at Kamlabai. Sheera was just okay

That was a nice, quick and satisfying meal which we wolfed down quite fast.

Kamlabai restaurant was quickly filling up by the time we finished eating, though it was a Sunday so office crowd was not there. On the menu it was written Thursday closed, but the waiter told us it is closed on Saturday. So please call 9850703343 and check before going.

That was a really nice, simple, quick and filling meal. . The food was very tasty, just like home food
