Human experience tells us that we learn equally important lessons from our success and failure. A prime example to prove this point is to reflect upon the two Battles of Badr and Uhad. While the former resulted in an outright victory, the latter ended in humiliation and defeat for the Muslims. Manifold lessons can be drawn from the mistakes that led to the failure. Eight lessons from the Battle of Uhad will be highlighted in this article.
The turning point from a position of victory that the Muslims had reached at an early stage in the battle, came about when a band of archers disobeyed the command of the Prophet PBUH due to their greed for booty of war. Can it then be said, that whenever a Muslim disobeys Allah SWT and His Messenger PBUH in what he says or does, that he should be prepared for the dire consequences of his disobedience?
