Описание: Red Point Beaches are two amazing stretches of peach coloured sand in the west end of Loch Torridon. Smaller, north beach is flanked by high dunes which are offering amazing view to northern side of Isle of Skye and (in good conditions) view to Isle of Lewis. The sand of northern beach is slightly darker and more red (could be the trick of light though). Southern beach is further away from the carpark, so it is less frequently visited, but for us it is also more beautiful. It is twice as big, with interesting rocky formation in the middle and little rocky islands near by. It also offers view to Isle of Skye (and Rona/Raasay) and most importantly, to peaks of Torridon which are way closer. You can see them from northern beach too, but only if you have a drone and fly up over dunes. Southern beach offers more in terms of colours as well. Though the sand is paler shade of red, it contrasts nicely with beautiful blue water, green fields and gorse bushes which are blooming with yellow flowers from January to June. Since the southern beach is located on the shore of Loch Torridon, and northern on the shore of the ocean, waves seems to be higher on the northern beach. There is only one clip in this video filmed on north beach. Can you guess which one is it?
Car park is not too big, but free of charge. It is not very busy, even in the season (in comparison to other beaches in the area), because Red Point lies at the very end of narrow, 10 miles road, south-west from more popular Gairloch and Big Sand beaches.
