Starting on some pellet testing for the new Air Arms xti50. i wanted to try an experiment and see whether i could reduce the power and tune the air stripper to tighten the group sizes with a known good batch of pellets. In this case im testing the jsb exact express.
normally i would have dismissed this pellet and kept trying others that performed better straight from the tin but i have loads of the express to use up and finding quantities of jsb heavies and jsb shorts is proving difficult of late.
Surprisingly the groups tightened up a little and the rifle is marginally more accurate with a sub optimal pellet.
the best barrel in the world cant make up for poorly manufactured pellets but these are a known good batch. The Anschutz 9015 shoots fantastically tight groups with them so its been a great start to a fun experiment.
im certain that the best pellet for the lothar walther barrel will likely end up being a jsb short or jsb heavy in the end.
i fitted the xti50 to my clamping rig for some of the testing to yield more accurate results and it worked well and rules out the wobbly human behind.
here's the previous video batch testing pellets in the 9015

this is just the start of some involved testing whilst i look to optimise the rig for absolute accuracy on the benchrest circuit.
the coming videos will cover pellet prep, sizing ,weighing and sorting to further tighten the group sizes up.
im competing at nsra benchrest over the winter so the more accurate the rifle is,the better!
The scope im currently using is the vector sentinel x which is a great value scope to enter the sport of benchrest. a video of it is below..
