The term "spotfest" has been used to describe a specific style of wrestling match for decades, sometimes positively, but more often than not it's used as a dismissal, for matches that aren't "real wrestling". I don't think this term is going away anytime soon, but I think the question has to be asked: what's a spotfest, and what do these sorts of matches mean for the past, present and future of professional wrestling?
