In a post on X, Araghchi said his last contact with US envoy Steve Witkoff took place before what he described as an “illegal” American military strike on Iran.

He also dismissed claims that a backchannel had recently been revived, saying such reports appear aimed at misleading oil traders and the public.

The statement comes after reports suggested a direct communication channel between Araghchi and Witkoff had been reactivated in recent days.
