Описание: In the spring of 1939 Glenn Miller and his Orchestra were well on their way to becoming the #1 dance band in the Country. As you will hear in this NBC broadcast they were enjoying enthusiastic audiences at the Meadowbrook Ballroom in Cedar Grove, NJ where they would play until April 20th. This show from Tuesday evening (11:30 AM - Midnight EST) April 4th, 1939 marked the last appearance of the band’s drummer Frank Carlson. On April 6th Maurice “Moe” Purtill would take over the drummer’s chair in the band and would remain with Glenn until the civilian band disbanded on September 27th, 1942. I hope you enjoy this slice of swing band history. (Source: Moonlight Serenade by John Flower).
