Описание: DÜSSELDORF-MEDIENHAFEN, 22.3.2010 (c) Video by http://www.PostmoderneKunst.de (Tom de Toys) ~ The day after my poetry-performance in "zakk" (as opener of poetryslam with lyrics by Karl-Johannes Vogt) i walked quickly to the beautiful buildings of architect FRANK OWEN GEHRY and filmed also the surrounding area: parliament and tv-tower. In summer 1993 i performed together with cellist FELIX HELIX in the construction whole behind the former gallery of MIKE SPAHN ("KUNSTSCHLEUSE", now "KUNST IM HAFEN" at Reisholzer Hafen) that was located besides the coming Gehry buildings...

The "Art and Media Center Rhine Haven", better known as the Gehry Buildings, was completed in the place of the old customs building in 1999. New construction techniques had to be developed to put up the freeform facades of the three office buildings. The mirror surface of "House B" reflects the facades of the red "House A" and the white "House C" to create an optical connection among the group of buildings.

The American architect Frank O. Gehry was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1929. He studied at the Universities of Southern California and Harvard. Over the years, Gehry has moved away from a conventional commercial practice to a artistically directed atelier. His deconstructed architectural style began to emerge in the late 1970s when Gehry, directed by a personal vision of architecture, created collage-like compositions out of found materials. Instead of creating buildings, Gehry creates ad-hoc pieces of functional sculpture.

Gehry has made a name for himself worldwide with his deconstructivist architecture. Among his creations are the Guggenheim museum in Bilbao, the Disney concert hall in Los Angeles and the dancing house in Prague (also known as Fred and Ginger.)
