Mayor Zohran Mamdani of New York City joined Governor Kathy Hochul and NYC Schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels to roll out a new early childhood care initiative called “2-Care” (free child care for two-year-olds). They announced the first four communities that will receive about 2,000 free childcare seats this fall as part of an effort to build toward universal free child care for all two-year-olds across the city over the next few years.
