Описание: This study discusses social reality within Student Hidjo (1919). The novel written by Mas Marco Kartodikromo captured the situation of the Dutch East Indies and Dutch’s society. The goal of this study is to ascertain the reality of the movement made within Dutch East Indies’ society at the start of the 20th century. This research will use the qualitive descriptive research method and historical research method. Mimetic approach will also be used to analyze the social reality within the book Student Hidjo. The result of this research shows the social phenomenon happened inside the book and the reality. The meeting of Sarekat Islam as a movement organization near the end of Dutch colonial era became one of the starting points in realizing the dream of an independent country, Indonesia.
