Introduction of Tattvarthsutra by Pt Ratanlal Benara in Pathshala programme (Paras Channel). Tattvarthasutra ,composed by Acharya UmaSwami, is regarded as the most authoritative book on Jainism. It is the only text which is accepted by both Digamber and the Shwetamber Sects. Acharya UmaSwami was the chief disciple of Kund Kund Acharya and blessed this land in the last days of the first Vikram century and the first part of its second century.
Swetaber regards it with high sanctity while the Digamber treat is as an Agam and term it as Mokshashastra. Although there are many differences in Digamber and Swetamber texts but over all the text remain the same.
Tattvartha Sutra (also known as Tattvarth-adhigama-sutra or Moksh-Shastra) is a Jain text written by Acharya Umasvati or UmaSwami in around 2nd Century. . It is the first Jain text in sutra or aphoristic form, and bring almost entire Jain doctrinal system in 350 sutras spread over 10 chapters. Tattvartha Sutra deal with the Seven (or the Nine Essentials -- nav tattva) that forms the core of Jainism. The spiritual composition start in the basis that the worldly life is unhappy and miserable and the way to be from that is to gain liberation (moksha).
Even though it's a short composition , it deals with almost everything Jainism has to convey. Umaswami has presented the core of Jainism in such a simple and complete manner that scholars have written huge volumes of commentaries on it.
