In this The Art of Vibrato video, I give you a quick tip on how to get your left hand un-stuck from the neck of the violin. The exercise presented is also great for loosening the left hand for shifting. When using vibrato, you can touch the neck of the violin or not. It's up to you. But if you do touch (I do) you have to be able to slide with the waving motion of the hand vibrato.
