Late V D Joshi best structure award was given to this structure in 2023.

Every year the Ferrocement Society, India celebrates ferrocement day in the memory of renowned and famous engineer of yester years Late V D Joshi. A competition is held amongst engineers and architects every year. The winner is felicitated by Late V D Joshi award for the best ferrocement structure. This is the 11th consecutive year in line.
An eminent Architecture firm from Kolhapur, Aniruddh Deshpande bagged this year’s award for the Sustainable Science Center building in ferrocement constructed at Masuda, Rajasthan. The appreciation Award is given to Mohammed Abu Sadeque for constructing Sustainable House with ferrocement shell at Dhaka, Bangla Desh.

The award program was telecast live. Dr Pratibha Alandkar was the Chief Guest. Prof. Sushama Avhad, Civil Engg Department of RMDSSOE, Er Milind Kulkarni, Ulhas Paranjape, were also present. Er. Chandra Mohan presented applications of ferrocement in different countries in the world. Er Milind Kulkarni explained how ferrocement is different from RCC, A+B is always greater than the A+B in case of ferrocement. The bonding between the steel wire meshes and the mortar gives much better results. Vice President Padmanabh Lele welcomed the guests and spoke about V D Joshi’s pioneer work in India. Er. Mohan Desai delivered vote of thanks.

Artisan awards were also given to the best ferrocement workers. Vijay Khare (Jalvardhini), Anil Palkar(Jnana Prabodhini) accepted the Artisan Awards of 2023.
