Buddha's Hand Citron Tree

It's a distinctive tree with incredible-looking fruit, flavor-enhancing abilities and a wonderful fragrance that freshens the air indoors. A sturdy, upright citrus tree with deep green leaves, the Buddha's Hand Citron Tree is an exotic favorite.
Long, fingerlike structures curl outward from each fruit, forming what looks like bright yellow hands throughout your tree. And although the Buddha's Hand fruit contains no pulp or juice, there are still plenty of wonderful uses for it.
Hardy Orange Tree 'Flying Dragon'

The Hardy Orange Tree, also known as the Flying Dragon Trifoliate Orange Tree, is one of the most unique fruit varieties available. Its twisted stems are contorted in different directions with curved, claw-like thorns, giving the illusion of dragons in flight.
Plus, the Flying Dragon is simple to grow. Despite its rarity and exotic looks, the Hardy Orange does well in containers, even pruned in bonsai fashion. This tree's design changes from wicked-like in the winter when its large thorns are exposed – to a soft flowering tree in the spring, quickly followed by colorful, fragrant oranges.
And it withstands temperatures as low as -10 degrees. The Hardy Orange is a tough tree that does well in both sunny and shady areas. It's drought-tolerant and barely needs pruning, so it's a time-saver with virtually no upkeep required, needing only a bit of sun and water to thrive.
Limequat Citrus Tree

The Limequat Citrus Tree is bred for the best balance: A natural cross between a Key Lime and a Kumquat. Limequats are small yellow-green fruit about the size of kumquats, which you can snack on without the time-consuming hassle of peeling.
Plus, they have the sweet flavors of limes and oranges with a tart aftertaste. Their unique flavor is perfect for cooking with, as well as adding to drinks to give your favorite recipes some extra zest.

Here are three unique citrus plants that you need to know about.
The first is the Buddha's Hand Citron Tree. I love this one, as you can see here, because it's just so unique. This is the fruit, it's not quite ready, yet. When it's ready it will be much larger still with those kind of finger-like projections, like the name suggests, but it will turn a nice yellow color. It is edible but I personally love the fruit just because of the unique shape, it's a talking piece, and the sweet fragrance that it provides.
Right here we have our 'Flying Dragon' Orange Tree. It is actually an orange tree, it doesn't look like it because of the unique shape of the limbs but that's why I love it. Even without oranges, it looks so beautiful even as an ornamental in your patio or maybe in your home. It has these wonderful trifoliate leaves and these cat claw looking thorns on it. So it is a pokey tree but definitely a unique one that would be happy to grow in a container.
If you're looking for something that's more familiar but still has a twist to it I recommend the Limequat. It kind of looks like a Meyer Lemon but it's actually a key lime and a kumquat mix so you get the best of both worlds. It has a small little fruit that's perfect for just eating right off the tree but it also gives you the sweet and the tart flavor.
These are three great unique citrus trees for your home, but we also have more on FastGrowingTrees.com.
