As guitarists mature, they leave behind the really bulky big chords and start to look at smaller voicings to "say a lot without saying very much".

Dyads are two note voicings that are remarkably effective in getting across a harmonic "depth" without carrying a lot of harmonic "weight" along with them. When you start to find and play dyadically, you'll hear that all of your favorite guitarists have been doing this very thing this whole time.
